Isabella Mayzel, Esq. was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She graduated from the Tashkent State University School of Law with summa cum laude in 1979.  She was a criminal defense Attorney in Tashkent for eleven years.  Also, she was awarded Ph.D. in Jurisprudence as a result of defending her thesis in criminal process.

In 1991, Ms. Mayzel with her family immigrated to the U.S.A.  While working as a Paralegal and Law Clerk in prestigious law firms in the U.S., she was studying at Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey and was awarded degree of Juris Doctor in 1996.  Upon graduation from law school and admission to the New Jersey State Bar Association, Ms. Mayzel started her practice in the State of New Jersey.

Over the years, she and her team successfully represented thousands of clients with extraordinary results. Among such cases was a precedent case where Ms. Mayzel represented the mother and children.

Court in this case denied father’s petition to return allegedly kidnapped children from their home country, Cyprus, by their mother after she was assaulted, humiliated and abused where the authorities were not able or willing to protect her from further spousal abuse. The father brought the case based on the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects on International Child Abduction. Prior to the decision on the children’s return, the mother and children had been granted asylum in the United States based on the spousal abuse by the father, as members of particular social group. Based on specific knowledge in asylum and combined skills of members of Mayzel Law Group, the court made a decision that because of the threat of abuse to the children and their mother, the children will not be returned back to their home country. Miltiadous v. Tetervak, 686 F. Supp. 2D 544, (E.D. Pa 2010). This precedent decision is used around the globe in the cases regarding return of kidnapped children.

Isabella Mayzel, Esq. and her team specialize in different types of immigration law, such as political asylum (affirmative asylum and defensive asylum), removal proceedings with various types of relief before Immigration Courts, Board of Immigration Appeals, various appellate and district courts (cancellation of removal for certain lawful permanent residents and for certain nonpermanent residents, waivers), wherein thousands of clients, instead of being removed, obtain lawful permanent resident status (green card), family- and employment-based immigration.

Isabella Mayzel has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey and Court of Appeals for the 2nd and 3rd Circuits.  She is a member of the following professional associations:
